  Daycare Owner's Evangelical Faith Triggers Sandbox Dustup

Can your tot play patty-cake on some other religion's playground? Is a daycare provider's faith relevant if your child is safe and happy in her charge?

Those questions boil up from a story in today's Washington Post on a local woman whose drop-in $5-a-visit indoor Be with Me Playseum is experiencing a storm in the sandbox.

A public school that planned field trips to the playground business canceled visits after unsigned claims appeared on online that owner Gina Seebachan, former head of the children's program for one of the largest local evangelical churches, is using the center to promote her faith, even telling a Jewish visitor she was going to hell.


The Post story links up to the Forum for D.C. Urban Moms and Dads where the anonymous claim was first posted December 25 -- but failed to note that the poster claimed to have visited Christmas Eve when the Playseum was closed.

The owner, who is evangelical and donates a portion of her profits to a Christian mission overseas, tells The Post all faiths are welcome. Staff biographies on the web site show they come from a range of backgrounds. Seebachan said in the story...
