SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Roman Catholic Church has received a lot of negative attention lately between the massive budget problems and more allegations of sexual abuse.
The Springfield Diocese is being forced to cut 40-percent of its budget by July 1. In the past year alone, the diocese has announced the closure of over 20 parishes, five schools, and with the continuing budget woes, more closures are expected.
One of the key local figures of the Catholic Church continues to remain silent about the issue, so 22News went digging for answers.
