WOBURN, Mass. -- A church choir director has been placed on leave by the Archdiocese of Boston after being accused of sexual misconduct.

Thomas DeBlois, 47, was arrested on Saturday and charged with enticement of a child.

"It's a shame it has to happen, especially with everything going on with the church the past few years," said parishioner Bob Angelo.

DeBlois had worked at the St. Charles Borromeo Parish since 1992, and like all other church employees working with children, he was screened in January. Nothing suspicious was found.

"Nothing surprises me as far as the Catholic Church and religion goes. I'm sure my grandmother would be rolling over in her grave," said parishioner Janice Bushee

The details of the alleged misconduct haven't been released, but just the claims of wrongdoing have some parishioners stunned and disappointed.

"It's upsetting that there's sick people in this society that go out and do these type of things. It's a shame. It's sickening," said parishioner John Devine.

DeBlois will remain on leave without pay until police have concluded their investigation. He is set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
