Church Employee Accused of Sexual Misconduct

WOBURN (WBZ) ― The director of music and choir director at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Woburn is being investigated for alleged sexual misconduct.

Thomas DeBlois has been placed on unpaid leave from the parish while the Woburn Police Department, Middlesex Distict Attorney's office, and Massachusetts Department of Family and Children investigate the claims.

The Archdiocese of Boston says DeBlois previously served as a music teacher at St. Charles Borromeo School. He has been en employee of the parish since 1992.

The archdiocese says it notified local law enforcement of the alleged misconduct.

Any employee or volunteer that works with children within the archdiocese undergoes a background screening, a spokesperson for the archdiocese explained.

She said when DeBlois went through his last screening in January 2010, no criminal entries were found.
