Bishop Roan Samuel Faulkner Sr., 62, was arrested for the sexual assault of an adult member in his church.

A church bishop is out on $300,000 bail after police say he sexually assaulted a member of his congregation.

Bishop Roan Samuel Faulkner Sr., 62, was arrested for the sexual assault of a female member in his church.

Gigi Barnett reports police say the abuse occurred at the victim's office.

Detectives say the victim contacted them on May 29 and reported the assault. The investigation revealed that the assault occurred on Feb. 21 at approximately 6 p.m. The victim had conversations with Faulkner because she has attended the church for several years. She was having some family difficulty and Faulkner met the victim at her office to spiritually advise her. But during the meeting, Faulkner sexually assaulted the 43-year-old victim and forced her to perform a sexual act. Police say she had been scared to report the incident until this time, and since the incident, has experienced physical and mental injuries as a result of the assault.

Faulkner refused to talk with police about the incident. He is charged with second-degree sex offense, attempted second-degree rape, perverted practice and fourth-degree sex offense.

Police are concerned about the possibility of other victims because of Faulkner's position with New Life Pentecostal Ministries, located in the 200-block of Melvin Avenue.

Police are asking anyone who has had contact with Faulkner where he attempted or sexually assaulted them, to contact the Baltimore County Police Department's Special Victim's Unit at 410-887-2223.
