Donations to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston fell during the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2009, according to financial statements released Thursday.

Collections during the year totaled $110.8 million, the archdiocese reported. The figure represents a decline of 2 percent from the $112.6 million reported for the fiscal year that ended in June 2008. Mass attendance also fell by 2 percent year over year.

Expenses were up considerably over the same period — mostly in a category called “parish life and leadership.”

Total assets were $523.9 million in June 2009 compared to $520 million in June 2008.
