The elders of the Route A Amish community had their next appearance in court, originally set for Monday morning, June 7, continued to Aug. 16 at 11 a.m.

The four men, scheduled to appear before the judge at the Webster County Courthouse were working in the hayfield on Monday, court officials said.

Their appearance will be an open plea and will be before Judge Ken Thompson.

Will Worsham appeared on behalf of his clients: Peter M. Eicher, Christian J.F. Schwartz, Jacob P. Schwartz and Emmanuel M.S. Eicher.

Webster County Prosecutor Danette Padgett represented the state.

This is the third time that the elders have had their case continued. The Amish elders are being charged for not reporting child abuse that had gone on within their community.
