A west suburban Aurora pastor who claims he was "overcome by the demon of lust" is sentenced to 19 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.

Lee A. Palmer, 63, of the 0-99 block of South East Street in Aurora, was sentenced Friday to 19 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault -- both Class X felonies -- and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on April 15, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.

Palmer, a clergyman and therefore in a position of trust and authority over the victim, is convicted of engaging in acts of sexual conduct with a girl younger than 13 years old at his home from September 2006 to September 2008, the release said.

Palmer alleged told investigators he was "overcome by the demon of lust," and that the victim was "in heat" and "asking for it," the release said.

Palmer must register for life as a convicted sex offender and has received credit for 65 days served in Kane County Jail, the release said.
