REVERE - Child sex abuse allegations brought against Rev. Dominic Menna occurred "approximately 50 years ago," according to the Archdiocese of Boston and not during his tenure at St. Anthony's of Padua.

Menna was named St. Anthony's pastor by the Archdiocese in November 1987, two years after coming to the church as a parochial vicar. He served there as pastor into the 1990s.

The Archdiocese announced last Sunday it was placing Menna on administrative leave "as a result of receiving allegations of sexual abuse of children," according to its Web site.

"Father Menna will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the preliminary investigation," the Web site added.
