The Vatican's reactions: ~Said that any sinful and criminal abuse of minors from members of the church must be condemned but there was a need for justice and amends. ~Expressed astonishment at the way in which the search took place. ~Called the violation of the graves and tombs outrageous. Reaction of the US Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP): ~Said that the news of the Belgian raid was welcomed by them ~Stated, "This raid is precisely what's needed, not just in Belgium but in other church offices across the globe." ~Urged police and prosecutors to use their full powers to gain access to and control over church records.
