The accused identified as Baba Somgiri was arrested after the woman complained that he invited her to the temple and raped her. According to police, the woman, a resident of Burari in north Delhi, used to visit the temple at Mandi village. For the past six months she had been visiting the temple and was recently asked by Somgri to visit him alone. When the victim came to the temple, Somgiri took her to a room where he allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anybody. The woman informed her husband after which the couple complained to police and a medical examination was conducted and a case of rape was registered.
