The plaintiff filed the lawsuit Thursday in Los Angeles. The man alleges the Rev. Nicholas Aguilar Rivera molested him when he was an altar boy in Los Angeles in 1987. Aguilar Rivera, a visiting priest from the Diocese of Tehuacan, fled to Mexico after the boy's parents contacted church officials. He remains at large and is wanted on 19 felony counts. The lawsuit is the latest of several to target church officials over the handling of the priest.
