Waterbury, Conn. (WTNH) - A second person has now come forward claiming they were abused by a now suspended Connecticut priest.

The victim's attorney tells News 8 that his client, a Watertown man who was formerly a student at St. Hedwig's Church in Naugautck, was taken into the school's basement to be "disciplined" for bad behavior. The attorney says it was in the basement that Stephen Bzdrya pulled down the second-grader's pants, spanked him and then turned him over and fondled his genitals.

The plaintiff who did not want to be identified was only seven years old at the time of the incident. The plaintiff told his attorney that he was then threatened by Bzdrya not to tell anyone and was sent back to class.

The victim's attorney says he shared his story with his parents and other close friends when he turned 18.

"This monster should have been shut down long ago," said Attorney Joel T. Faxon of Stratton Faxon. "Unfortunately, it took the fortitude of two individuals through our legal system to do the job the diocese could not." The victim told his attorney he only decided to come forward about the abuse after another alleged victim filed suit last month. The Hartford Diocese is investigating.
