Bishop Eamonn Walsh: one of the bishops whose resignation was rejected

Irish survivors of the clerical abuse have held a protest of the Vatican’s decision to reject the resignations of Bishops Eamon Walsh and Raymond Field.

The bishops had been found, by the Murphy Report released last year, to have been involved in clerical sexual abuse cover ups while serving the community.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin had accepted their resignations which were officially given in at Christmas however the Vatican recently rejected their decision assigning them new responsibilities in the their diocese.

The survivors protested at the Papal Nunciature in Dublin. Brendan Butler, the organizer of the protest said that the group wanted the Pop to reverse his decision or “at least recognize their anger".
