Chicago, IL (August 13, 2010) – The Archdiocese of Chicago through the Office of Assistance Ministry will again sponsor therapy groups for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Licensed professionals, who have experience working with victims of sexual abuse, will conduct group sessions for women and men at no cost to the participants.

The therapy group for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse will meet for twelve consecutive weeks beginning on Wednesday, September 22, from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at a downtown Chicago location with easy access to public transportation.

Those interested in attending the sessions are asked to call or email Matt Hunnicutt at 312-534-8267, mhunnicutt@archchicago.org or Ruth Robinson at 312-534-8256, rurobinson@archchicago.org.

The Archdiocesan Office of Assistance Ministry’s mission is to provide pastoral care, support, and resources to victims-survivors of sexual abuse and their loved ones in their efforts to achieve psychological, emotional and spiritual healing. The purpose of the therapy group is to provide participants with a positive and supportive environment that allows each individual to use his or her own experiences and personal support systems to take control of their journey toward healing
