| Perth College says chaplain Matthew O'Meara has been charged over accessing child pornography |
A chaplain at a private school for girls in Perth has been charged with child pornography offences.
Police say the Reverend Matthew O'Meara has been charged with two counts of possessing child pornography.
The police online exploitation sqaud arrested the chaplain after a thumb drive containing the images was found at the school.
School principal Jenny Ethell says O'Meara was ordained two years ago, and joined the school at the start of the year.
She says all staff undergo background checks and have working with children clearances.
Ms Ethell says parents have been kept fully informed and there is no suggestion students from the school are involved in the matter.
The 40-year-old chaplain is due to appear in court on September 2.
