A Catholic priest accused of sexual abuse is now barred from any public ministry after new allegations emerged involving minors dating back as far as four decades, the Archdiocese of Boston announced yesterday.

Rev. Thomas Curran, 65, whose last assignment was St. Michael Parish in Hudson, had been placed on administrative leave from 2002 until 2007 following allegations of sexual abuse.

After a canonical process determined the complaints were unsubstantiated, he was assigned permanent disability status, said Archdiocese spokeswoman Kelly Lynch.
