Michael L. Windham

A Montgomery County grand jury Monday indicted Michael L. Windham, 61 of Lewisburg, on 10 counts of illegal sexual conduct with a minor.

Windham, of 5744 Cedar Drive in Preble County, faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted of the charges. He was indicted on seven counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance and three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Windham was a church leader at Open Bible Church in Perry Township, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's office, when he met the victim and started a sexual relationship with him.

The illegal activity started as early as March 2005 when the victim was 13 years old, prosecutors said.

The indictment includes charges for photos Windham allegedly took of the teen and charges for sex acts that occurred.

Perry Township police are also still looking for additional information in the case. Anyone with knowledge of the ongoing investigation is asked to call Det. Keith Carter at (937) 833-5487.

Police initially said they believed that Windham had had sexual relations with as many as five teenage boys, ages 13 to 18 years of age, and that he had paid the teens for specific sex acts.

But the indictment refers to a single victim. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail with bond set at $1 million.

He will be arraigned on the charges at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
