EUREKA, Calif.—An Arcata pastor has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges of child molestation and resigned from his church.

Forty-nine-year-old Dino Cardelli entered his plea Tuesday in Humboldt County Superior Court. He is charged with one count of committing the recurring sexual abuse of a child under age 14, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, and two counts of oral copulation with a minor.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Cardelli Thursday after they say they were notified of the alleged abuse by an official at the child's school. Detectives say they think only one child is involved.

Cardelli served as pastor of Calvary Chapel of Arcata for 15 years. On Tuesday, the church released a statement saying it had accepted his resignation.

Cardelli remains in custody on $750,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 24.
