A group of progressive priests wants to meet with representatives of the Pope who are leading an investigation into the Catholic Church in Ireland.

The review was initiatied by Pope Benedict in the wake of the Murphy and Ryan reports into abuse in the Catholic Church and will involve a trip to the Archdiocese of Tuam as well as the Archdioceses of Cashel & Emly, Armagh and Dublin.

Fr. Tony Flannery, a Redemptorist Priest and co-founder of the Association of Irish Priests has confirmed that it has formally asked for a meeting with the senior Vatican representatives.

The group says it wants to hear terms of reference for the Irish inquiry.
