Jean Revil, the head of the campus ministry at Bishop Stang High School, has been placed on paid adminstrative leave, after a report alleging inappropriate sexual conduct with a female student in 1994, a spokesman for the Fall River Diocese said tonight.

Spokesman John Kearns said in a press release that the allegation was made by the former Stang student, now an adult, who claims that the incidents took place at the school. Revil has been a Stang staff member for more than three decades.

She has denied the allegation, Kearns said.

“In keeping with its policies, the Fall River Diocese reported the allegation to Thomas Carroll, investigator from the Office of the Bristol County District Attorney,” Kearns said in the release. “At the same time, Ms. Revil was informed of the receipt of the allegation and was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.”

“Her being placed on leave is done as a matter of policy and should not be construed as an indication of guilt or wrongdoing,” Kearns said in the release.

In the statement, Kearns also said, “This is obviously a very troubling matter for all involved, including the alleged victim, Ms. Revil, and the entire Bishop Stang High School community.

“In response, Catholic Social Services is providing counselors for any student or staff member who wishes to talk with one about this distressing situation.”

Anyone with information which might assist the District Attorney’s investigation should contact that office at (508)-997-0711, Kearns said.
