Chicago - The Chicago Archdiocese is disputing new claims about priests and sexual abuse.

Three local advocacy groups, including the group Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), have issued a new report showing that 97 priests have been publicly accused of sexual abuse in Chicago from 1917 to 2009.

The groups said the highest concentration of cases were in the Bridgeport, West Town, Lincoln Park and Garfield Ridge neighborhoods.

They also said in some cases, multiple accused priests worked in the same church.

A spokeswoman for the Archdiocese said church officials have not seen the study but do question the results.

She said the priests referred to in the report have all been removed and are no longer in the ministry.
