  Chicago Priest to Lead San Antonio Archdiocese

SAN ANTONIO (AP) â€" The Vatican has announced the appointment of a 53-year-old Chicago priest to lead the San Antonio archdiocese.

The Vatican on Thursday said Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Auxiliary Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller.

Garcia-Siller will succeed Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, who in April was named archbishop of Los Angeles.

Garcia-Siller will be installed as archbishop on Nov. 23.

He was born in San Luis Potosi (puh-TOH'-see), Mexico, and is the eldest of 15 children. His brother, Eugene, is also a priest.
