Monsignor William McCarthy reveals what it is like to be accused of the heinous crime of child molestation in his book The Conspiracy: An Innocent Priest. McCarthy was accused in 2003 of molesting two sisters formerly in his parish —23 years prior. Because of a lack of evidence, he was never tried in a U.S. court of law, but was subjected to a Canonical trial.

Although McCarthy was cleared of any wrong doing five years later, the scandal still haunts him to this day.

"My heart still hurts from this accusation," McCarthy says. "There is a grief that has not left me."
