CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida mother is filing suit against a school after allegations of sexual abuse by a former teacher at that school.

The mother of the alleged victim claimed that her son's music teacher, Miguel Cala, fondled her son during a private drum lesson inside her home. "Those that allowed him to abuse the children of our church community in such a horrific manner need to be held accountable as well," the mother said.

Mary Ross Agosta, the communications director of the Archdiocese of Miami, said, "We background check everyone, fingerprint them every five years. There is absolutely nothing in his record. If there were, he would have never been a teacher at our school."

Cala, who taught at St. Andrews Catholic School for 10 years, was arrested in September on charges that he abused a student during music lessons.
