Christopher Michael Klemm pleaded guilty in Brisbane's District Court to child sex offences.

A Brisbane judge has jailed a former deputy headmaster of the Anglican Church Grammar School after he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a student.

The District Court heard Christopher Michael Klemm, 52, abused the boy between 1985 and 1987 while the student was aged between 12 and 15.

The court heard Klemm misused his position of trust to take advantage of a vulnerable boy who had lost his mother and did not know his father.

Klemm's offences were committed at the school and in his Highgate Hill apartment.

Catherine Cuthbert who represented Klemm said her client had struggled with his homosexuality and thought he was in love with the boy.

Judge Deborah Richards sentenced Klemm to five years in prison to be suspended after he serves 15 months.
