Timothy Parker is escorted from court by Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher after a brief appearance Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. Parker, a Lutheran pastor, is charged with third-degree sex abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child.

WEST UNION, Iowa - The Rev. Timothy Parker on Wednesday admitted committing a sex crime against a female relative.

Authorities in August charged Parker, 40, of Westgate, with third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child, all Class C felonies. They followed those with four counts of violating a no-contact order, a misdemeanor, after Parker allegedly sent letters from jail to the victim and her family.

Parker pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse. According to criminal complaints, Parker allegedly had the girl undress and touched her.

A sentencing hearing is set at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13, according to court records. Parker is being held without bail.

Parker allegedly bypassed the Fayette County Jail's mailing system, giving letters to a visiting pastor and friend, the Rev. Ronnie Koch of Fredericksburg. Authorities found other letters in Parker's cell.

Koch, 44, was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting a violation of an order of protection, a misdemeanor. He was scheduled to go to trial Wednesday but proceedings were delayed until Dec. 15.

Parker served St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate.
