Senator-elect Chris Coons delivered his farewell address to New Castle County Council Monday afternoon.

And New Castle County Executive Paul Clark, the incoming County Executive, has named some volunteers to help him with the transition.

Expect hackles to be raised that two former aides to former Governor Ruth Ann Minner are on that transition team:

Former Minner chief of staff Mark Brainard and former Secretary to the Delaware Department of Health & Social Services Vince Meconi, who also served as a controversial stimulus consultant in the Markell Administration. Lest we forget, Meconi oversaw DHSS at the time substantiated allegations surfaced of patient abuse at the Delaware Psychiatric Center.

For people already concerned the Clark era will open the floodgates to development, Meconi's involvement could represent a bad omen. (Although in fairness, Meconi's record at DHSS will have nothing to do with whatever talents he could use to assist the transition)

Does Paul Clark have a tin ear when it comes to appearances?

Along a completely different vein, Msgr. J. Thomas Cini - the Vicar-General of the Diocese of Wilmington - may take the stand tomorrow in the rare public airing of the clerical sex abuse scandal. Msgr. Cini is the one highly placed link to those horrendous events many years ago, and certainly has drawn criticism for not doing more.
