In an agreement with state prosecutors, a former Moravian Church pastor in Bethel pled guilty on Wednesday to one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Carlie Ekamrank, 52, had originally faced five counts of sex-abuse of a minor -- a 12-year-old girl.

The agreement drops all counts but the one, according to court documents filed in Bethel Superior Court.

If the judge accepts the terms in a hearing scheduled for early next year, Ekamrak could receive five years in prison and a probationary period of up to 10 years.

When his case [http://thetundradrums.com/article/1028moravian_pastor_faces_sex-abuse_charges] began in June, Ekamrak was a top official in the Moravian Church in Alaska and served as pastor in Bethel.

The Moravian Church in Alaska has a strong presence in the Kuskokwim region in Southwest Alaska.
