5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has learned the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis asked a judge to delay acting upon a motion to seek thousands of dollars in legal costs from a man who claimed to be the victim of alleged abuse.

Jim Keenan claims he was in eighth grade when he was allegedly abused by Father Thomas Adamson.

The case against the archdiocese was thrown out earlier this month by a Ramsey County District judge, stating the statute of limitations expired.

The archdiocese sought to recover $64,000 in legal costs.

However, on Tuesday, the motion was delayed after learning that Keenan had filed bankruptcy.

At a news conference this afternoon, when asked about this move by the archdiocese, Keenan and his lawyer said the first they were hearing about it was from 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
