Melanie Nathan Nov 29-2010- Its mediation first for Bishop Eddie Long, and then if not settled the case is set for trial for July for the four young men who filed sexual coercion lawsuits against anti-gay mega-church pastor Eddie Long. Despite internet rumors of a quick settlement, the litigation is proceeding and depositions will soon begin, attorney BJ Bernstein tells WSB. The thinking is that Long is likely to settle to avoid cell phone and bank records from becoming splashed across the media. That is often the fear – when cases are settled. However it seems that Mr. Long is ready to hold out a little longer.

Unlikely to cry foul and shakedown, because of the different Plaintiffs involved, and how they emerged to join forces, the good bishop has until February to make up his mind. Long is accused of luring at least four young men into sexual relationships and using church funds to give them cash, gifts and cars. The four men—Maurice Robinson, Jamal Parris, Anthony Flagg and Spencer LeGrande—have filed sexual coercion lawsuits against Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Two of the four accusers have never met the others. Read the complaints HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. In related news: The embattled pastor covers the November/December 2010 issue of Gospel Today.
