Statement by Nancy Sloan, SNAP Stockton co-director & victim of Oliver O'Grady. (707)631-7654 Nancy.Sloan@sbcglobal.net

NOTE-Irish law enforcement officials have arrested Fr. Oliver O'Grady on child porn charges. He has molested numerous kids in California and was recently found living in the Netherlands)

We're thrilled this extremely dangerous predator priest has been arrested and hope he will soon be locked up for a long time. That's the only way to really protect kids.

Once a child sex offender is arrested, it's tempting for many to become complacent and assume he'll be convicted and jailed. But that often doesn't happen. Child predators are usually cunning men who hire top notch lawyers and exploit technicalities and get off with little or no jail time.

So it's crucial that every single person who saw, suspected or suffered O'Grady's crimes contact law enforcement immediately, so he can be effectively prosecuted, convicted, and kept away from kids for the rest of his life.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world's oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We've been around for 22 years and have more than 10,000 members. Despite the word "priest" in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
