SEYMOUR -- A third man has accused a local Roman Catholic priest of sexually molesting him as a child at a Meriden church. The victim, 40, who was only identified as John Doe, filed a lawsuit Friday in Waterbury Superior Court against the Rev. Stephen Bzdyra. Bzdyra has been suspended from his role as pastor of St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Ave. He lives in New Haven County. According to a release by his attorney, Joel T. Faxon of New Haven, the man was sexually abused repeatedly by Bzdyra in a storage room at St. Stanislaus Church. It also stated the priest beat and physically threatened his client. Faxon represents two other men who have filed lawsuits alleging Bzdyra sexual abused them when they were minors. In July, William Dotson, of New Haven, filed a lawsuit in New Haven Superior Court, and then in August, a second man, who lives in Watertown but has chosen not to reveal his identity, filed a lawsuit in Waterbury Superior Court. Both cases are pending, Faxon said.
