Suspended Blessed Sacrament priest Emile Boutin appeared in Stoughton District Court briefly on Friday, Dec. 10 before another hearing was scheduled for next month.

Boutin, known as Fr. Mike to his parishioners, pleaded not guilty in June to a charge of indecent assault and battery after he was accused of inappropriately grabbing a 21-year-old man in a sexual manner behind a Rte. 138 parking lot in Canton.

Boutin previously met before a Stoughton judge in October for a pretrial hearing but his attorney requested time to review case evidence.

His next appearance is slated for a discovery compliance hearing on Jan. 19 where a judge will determine if all evidence is being submitted properly.

By law, the prosecutor and defense attorney must present one another all evidence they plan on using during trial.

Boutin was again wearing a non-clerical suit and tie and did not speak during the proceedings.

He was released following the arraignment in early summer on $500 bail and on the condition that he will stay away from the alleged victim and the Rte. 138 “Park and Ride.”

The Archdiocese of Boston has banned Boutin from public ministry pending the outcome of this case.
