Federal prosecutors in Connecticut say a man who sexually abused children at a school in Haiti he founded also threatened to kill a prosecutor.

Authorities cited the alleged threat in court papers Thursday as they argued Douglas Perlitz of Eagle, Colo., should be sent to prison for more than 19 years when he is sentenced next week.

The 40-year-old former Connecticut resident admitted in August to engaging in illicit sexual conduct with eight children.

Authorities say he made a threat in a phone call in July and that his brother vowed to take revenge against prosecutors. No charges have been filed.

William Dow III, Perlitz's attorney, says there was no plan to harm any prosecutor. He says the comments reflected anger and frustration over the case and Perlitz's brother apologized.
