A chapter of the Murphy Report which details the crimes of former priest Tony Walsh has been released.

Chapter 19 details not only how he ruined so many children's lives but also how his superiors covered up his crimes.

The 57 year old's name could not be included in the original report because of a criminal case against him.

That case ended last week and the previously unpublished chapter has been made public.

Tony Walsh was sentenced to 16years in prison last week for the abuse of three young boys in the late 1970's and 1980's. The last 4 years of his sentence were suspended.

If you have been affected by the publication of Chapter 19 of the Murphy Report please contact Connect on 1800 477 477.

Connect Chief Executive Officer Anne Richardson said the service received a large volume of calls at the time of the launch of the Ryan and Murphy reports and was expecting an increase in calls over the coming days.

Connect was established at the request of survivor groups to provide a phone counselling and support service to people who have suffered abuse. It will be open this evening and over the weekend to provide telephone-based counselling and support, following today's launch of Chapter 19 of the Murphy Report.

The service provides professional counselling to survivors of abuse at freephone 1800 477 477 from the Republic of Ireland and 00800 477 477 77 from Northern Ireland.

The service is open from 6-10pm tonight and on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Further information is available at www.connectcounselling.ie. Connect is funded by the HSE.
