Additional charges could be brought against a defrocked priest accused of possession of thousands of pornographic images of children, some as young as two, a court heard yesterday.

Oliver O'Grady (65), with an address at a hostel on Charlemont Street, in Dublin 2, was granted bail at Dublin District Court last Saturday following his arrest on December 10 and he was remanded to appear again yesterday.

Detective Garda Johanna Doyle of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed that the adjournment was for directions to be obtained and the possibility of "further charges". Judge Patrick McMahon remanded O'Grady on continuing bail to appear again on January 28.

Last Saturday, the court had heard that O'Grady had lived at various addresses in Ireland since he was deported from the United States, in 2001.
