Hundreds of victims of the defrocked paedophile priest Tony Walsh are being encouraged to seek help by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

It follows the publication of a further chapter in the Murphy Report, which reveals how Walsh abused children in the 70s, 80s and 90s despite the knowledge of many priests, bishops and an archbishop.

The chapter, which describes Walsh as the most notorious abuser ever to the come to the Commission's attention, had been withheld pending the resolution of criminal proceedings against him.

Speaking this evening, Ellen O'Malley-Dunlop of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre praised those victims who enabled the chapter to be published by taking the case against Walsh.
