Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis, Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (314 566 9790, SNAPclohessy@aol.com)

Today, we learned that the Oklahoma Supreme Court will not hear an appeal by Tulsa's Catholic bishop in a clergy sex abuse and cover up case involving an alleged predator priest, Fr. Ken Lewis.

We're grateful that Bishop Slattery's far-fetched legal maneuvers aren't working. We're glad this brave, wounded victim is one day closer to being able to expose Catholic clergy crimes and corruption in court.

As it should this case now moves toward trial. Just as crucial, now top Tulsa Catholic officials will have to face tough questions under oath about their complicity in Lewis' crimes, including how much they knew and how little they did to stop him and protect kids.

We hope that every single person who saw, suspected or suffered Lewis' crimes will come forward, get help, call police, protect kids, expose wrongdoing and start healing.

Lewis' victim is represented by St. Paul Minnesota attorneys Mike Finnegan (651 227 9990, 612 205 5531), Jeff Anderson (651 227 9990, 612 817 8665 cell) and Tulsa attorney Paul Carr.
