On Wednesday, Samuel Warlick appeared in United States District Court to answer to charges that he possessed child pornography and posed as a 16-year-old boy to befriend other boys and persuade them to send him naked pictures. Unfortunately, this scene is commonplace these days. The sheer numbers of persons who consume child pornography is incredible and the number being caught is also rising due to the FBI’s Project Safe Childhood program. What some do not understand is that these same people who are consuming child pornography, are also child sexual abusers themselves.

Such is the case with Samuel Warlick. According to a Complaint filed by our law firm in association with other firms in Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky, Warlick sexually abused a number of children while he was at a housing facility for Presbyterian missionary families in the Congo. His sexual abuse of the children there was reported to the Presbyterian authorities and, unfortunately, ignored by them. As a result, Warlick was allowed to continue to sexually abuse more missionary kids. Warlick, like others who consume child pornography is a child sexual abuser. Do not be misled by misconceptions that exist about child pornography consumers. Misconceptions like child pornography consumers aren’t hurting anyone or that child pornography is a victimless crime. These beliefs are simply wrong. The truth is, child pornography consumers are dangerous. Someone who watches children being tortured and sexually assaulted for sexual pleasure is likely to torture and sexually assault children.
