Guam - Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz reintroduced a pair of bills today that would bring justice to victims of child sexual abuse. Bills 33 and 34 would end the statute of limitations on the prosecution of sex crimes involving child abuse and allow time for victims to take civil action against their abusers.

Cruz states these measures will allow a two-year window where victims of past abuse may take civil action in Guam courts. He adds that statistics prove that 90% of sexual abuse goes unreported and unpunished, saying, "We must not continue to tolerate these crimes by imposing due dates on civil actions by victims and on the prosecution of perpetrators."
