Jury Returns Verdict For Now-Former Church Minister

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- A jury has returned their verdict in a Council Bluffs sex assault case. Efrain Umana was found guilty of second-degree sex abuse and third-degree sex abuse and assault with intent to commit sex abuse.

The jury did not find Umana guilty on a charge of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

Second-degree sex abuse is a class B felony, which carries a mandatory 25 years in prison.

The accusation against Umana dates back to 2003, when police said he lured a child into a room and assaulted her.

Umana is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3.
