  Former Priest, Georgetown Prep Teacher Charged with Sexual Abuse

A former Catholic priest and teacher at Georgetown Preparatory has been charged with sexual abuse.

Garrett David Orr, 57, currently of Pittsburgh turned himself in to Montgomery County authorities on Jan. 25 and was served with an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of child abuse and one count of third-degree sexual offense.

In 2010, detectives received complaints alleging sexual abuse committed against two former Georgetown Prep students, according to a Montgomery County Police press release. In June and December 2010, two victims reported being inappropriately touched by Orr while on campus in 1989 and 2002, respectively. Orr, taught at Georgetown Prep between 1989 and 2003.

During the investigation, "detectives traveled to McCandless Township, [Pa.], and, along with local police, coordinated their investigation, interrogation, and subsequent arrest of Orr," the release stated.

Orr was arrested and charged as a fugitive from justice on Jan. 19 in Pennsylvania, but was released. Then on Jan. 25, he turned himself in and was served with the arrest warrant. Orr was released on Jan. 26 after paying a $50,000 bond, according to the press release.

Montgomery County Police ask that anyone with knowledge of any inappropriate contact by the former priest with a juvenile is asked to contact Detective Mario Mastrangelo in the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5432. Callers may remain anonymous.
