A jury found former Catholic priest Gary Mercure guilty on all charges against him for sexually assaulting two altar boys in the 1980's.

Mercure, 62, of Troy, was found guilty on 2 counts of Rape of a Child with Force, and 1 count of Indecent Assault and Battery of a Child Under 14, in connection with the incident involving a man who is now 35-years-old. He is also found guilty on 1 county of Rape of a Child with Force, in connection with the incident involving a man who is now 34-years-old.

Prosecutors accused Mercure of raping the two young boys over 20 years ago, during the month of February 1989, taking the children on trips from Glens Falls to Berkshire County to sexually assault them.

Mercure faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison on each charge. He will be sentenced on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The jurors main consideration was whether or not Mercure actually brought the boys across state lines to Massachusetts to rape them. This was an important piece of information since the crimes occurred over 20 years ago, because that statute of limitations has not run out in Massachusetts, where it has run out in New York.
