CORPUS CHRISTI — A jury found a former South Texas church pastor not guilty on three charges of sexually abusing relatives and couldn't reach a verdict on eight other counts.

Jurors deliberated about 7½ hours before returning Monday in the case against 51-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was cleared on three counts of indecency with a child, while the jury couldn't decide on four more serious charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The jury also was locked on four other indecency counts.

The two accusers, the oldest in her 20s, have said Gonzalez physically and sexually abused them when they were children. Gonzalez testified that the allegations weren't true.

Defense attorney Kenneth Botary tells the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that prosecutors haven't said whether they will try the case again.
