(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Administrators from a camp that Senator Scott Brown attended as a young boy are speaking out. News broke earlier this week that the Senator was allegedly sexually abused by camp counselor at a Christian camp on Cape Cod.

Senator Brown has not named the camp but 'Camp Good News' confirms the Senator was a camper as a kid. Stephen Brooks, with the 75 year old camp, says his grandfather started the camp in the 1930's. It is intended to give children, five to fifteen, a spiritual outlet.

Brooks tells Fox 25 he has reached out to Senator Brown but has not heard from him to date. He says he is a big fan and supporter of the Senator and would like to follow his lead in moving forward.

According to published reports, Senator Brown does not plan to pursue criminal charges or release the name of the counselor, but revelation is written in an autobiography to set be released Monday.

Camp officials have sent a letter to all camp parents informing them of the upcoming book release and the information they say could cast a negative light on the camp. The letter reads in part, "Our camp is committed to the physical and emotional safety of our campers, past, present and future. His book is a poignant reminder of the serious harm that can befall children at the hands of trusted adults. Please pray with us for Senator Brown and his family."

Camp administrators also say they conduct a full criminal and sexual background check of all camp volunteers and staff.

Fox 25 is set to sit down with Senator Brown in the upcoming week.
