During the ongoing discussion of Bill 33 on the floor of the Guam Legislature, Sen. Tina Muna Barnes gave emotional testimony in support of the sex abuse bill.

Introduced by Sen. Benjamin Cruz, the bill would eliminate the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse.

Sen. Barnes alluded to personal experiences with sexual abuse, and recalled her experiences working with other victims of sexual abuse as an investigator for the public defender.

Sen. Mana Silva Taijeron also stood to support the bill, citing her own experience as a victim of domestic violence.

She said she had also been a victim of sexual assault, about a year and a half ago, and said that the case was stll pending in the court system.

Cruz followed the testimony of his colleagues by saying he was "so proud" to be a part of the legislature, and thanked his colleagues for telling their stories.
