The Catholic Diocese of Buffalo has suspended a priest while investigating an accusation that he behaved inappropriately toward a 14-year-old boy 10 years ago.

The Rev. David Bialkowski (bee-uhl-KOW'-ski) denies any wrongdoing.

The diocese initially told parishioners of St. John Gualbert (GWAHL'-burt) Church in Cheektowaga (cheek-tuh-WAH'-guh) that the 49-year-old priest had requested a medical leave. On Wednesday, a statement said he'd been placed on administrative leave last month pending an investigation. The statement says that's policy when allegations of improper conduct are made.

The Buffalo News reports that neither Bialkowski nor the diocese is releasing details of the allegation by a former altar server.

Bialkowski had been at the suburban Buffalo church for 15 years.
