THREE couples and a woman pal moved from London to a cul-de-sac in rural Wales to set up a sick sex cult, a jury heard yesterday.

They relocated over four years and were led by "evil and manipulative" Colin Batley, it was said.

He allegedly persuaded the women to get identical tattoos and find youngsters for three-in-a-bed sex.

He raped boys and girls, forced children to have sex with each other and ordered the women to join in, it was claimed.

Batley, 48, preached from a text known as The Book of The Law - while living off the earnings of women he forced into prostitution in Bristol, Swansea Crown Court was told.

Prosecutor Peter Murphy described Batley as a sexual predator who corrupted others to do his bidding through coercion and control. He added: "He is the principal.

"The four families became closely intertwined. It became much more than that - a cult. The usual restraints went out of the window."

The members all knew each other in London before moving to the tiny seaside town of Kidwelly in Pembrokeshire. Sandra Iveson, 45, and her partner moved into number 26, Clos yr Onnen, in 1995.

Batley and wife Elaine, 47, went to number 7, Jacqueline Marling, 42, and her partner went to number 8 and single Shelly Millar, 35, moved into number 23. Mr Murphy told the jury they would hear from a teenage boy who would tell how he had a threesome with Elaine Batley and Marling and intercourse with Shelly Millar all before he was 16.

And he claimed a girl of 16 was forced to have sex with a boy aged 15 while Marling filmed it on a camcorder.

Batley and the four women deny 33 charges including rape, indecent assault, forcing a girl to work as a prostitute and inciting a child to have sex.

Batley also denies 12 charges of possessing indecent images of an underage girl.

A sixth defendant, Vincent Barden, 70, of Kempston, Beds, has admitted assaulting an underage girl but denies a rape charge.

The court has not heard what happened to the partners of Iveson and Marling but neither face any charges. The trial continues.
