HARTFORD, Conn. (UPI) -- Two former members of the Knights of Columbus youth group have filed lawsuits saying they were sexually abused decades ago by a Texas youth leader. The plaintiffs, now adults, are seeking millions of dollars in damages from the Catholic men's organization, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported. The lawsuits were filed in U.S. District Court in Hartford because the group's headquarters is in New Haven, Conn.

Both men say they were members of the Columbian Squires when they were molested by a youth leader named Juan Rivera. They charge the national organization knew its youth group was being targeted by pedophiles and ignored specific complaints.

One man charges Rivera passed him on to other adults at Squires meetings in the 1970s. The other says his complaints about Rivera in 1986 were ignored.
